Front Seat Views and Coastal Blues: Our Journey Along the East Coast

Oh, let me take you back to my childhood memories! There was nothing quite like the feeling of sitting by the water, the wind tousling my hair as I soaked it all in. Every summer, my family would pack up and head to Turtle Lake in Minnesota. Dad would be busy washing his sparkly blue Impala while Mom relaxed in her lawn chair, curlers in her hair, lost in a good book.

Meanwhile, I’d be off in my own little world, playing until the chilly wind chased me back to the car. Ah, those back seats were like a magical playground! They doubled as my bed, a makeshift playhouse, and even a rocketship at night, with the stars peeking through the windows. And back then, seatbelts? Who needed ’em! We just had a blast cruising around.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll find me enjoying the front seat of an SUV, soaking up the scenery as we zip along. Let me tell you, it’s a much comfier ride than the backseat ever was! Joe and I have been lucky enough to explore the East Coast, falling in love with spots like New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, and North Carolina. And guess what’s next on our adventure list? Virginia in 2024! So, keep an eye out for some fresh beach posts coming your way soon.

Cheers to new memories and endless road trips! 🚗🌊

The Why

The Why

You know, for as long as I can remember, Joe and I have always dreamed of living near the ocean. Every chance we got, we’d pack up and head for a beach vacation, soaking up the sun and salty air. We’d sit there, sipping on our drinks, imagining what our life would be like by the sea. I even started collecting little trinkets that I knew would fit perfectly in our future beach house. Of course, with kids to raise and just one income, saving up for that dream was a slow and steady process.

But we never gave up on it. Even when it seemed like a distant fantasy, we kept squirreling away whatever we could. And then, finally, after years of talking and waiting, retirement rolled around, and we made it happen. Okay, so maybe we didn’t end up right on the beach, but we’re just a short 15-minute drive away from the Delaware shore. And let me tell you, it’s everything we ever dreamed of and more.

We love it! It’s a whole new chapter for us, figuring out this retired life by the coast. And hey, if you’re curious about how we got here and what we’ve learned along the way, we’d be more than happy to share our journey with you. Let’s swap stories!
